CastRosemarie DeWitt, Allison Janney, Ron Livingston, Scoot McNairy, Ellen Page, Josh Pais Film description“I like to put people into situations that are out of their comfort zone and see what happens. It’s like a little lab experiment, and this idea of somebody who works intimately with bodies of strangers on a regular basis suddenly reaching a threshold - because skin is weird, and bodies are freaky,” says Lynn Shelton in an interview for vulture.com. And she makes a film where problems with acceptance of physicality become a beautiful metaphor for fear of intimacy. Her moving comedy is about an ever-independent masseuse named Abby, her anal-retentive brother and dentist, and his introverted daughter, Jenny. It is a charming film about coming to terms with yourself, breaking barriers and emotions that cause you to lose control.
