Gotham in Progress - the first European industry meeting focused entirely on independent American films is changing its name to US in Progress. The Wrocław-based event decided to drop the “Gotham” element in its name to avoid confusion that it’s only accessible to New York filmmakers.

US in Progress is part of the American Film Festival in Wrocław. It is an initiative of the New York and Paris-based Black Rabbit Film and the New Horizons Association, the organizer of the AFF. In 2011, 11 projects in final production stages were shown during the event to a group of 40 European and 40 Polish distributors, sales agents, producers and festival programmers.

The event has already proving beneficial for the participants. Now, Forager, the film awarded with a Special Mention at the first edition of Gotham in Progress at the 2.AFF has found partners at the event including a Polish co-producer (Monternia.pl) and a sales agent (the Warsaw-based New Europe Film Sales). Monternia.pl has also provided post-production services and advice for another GiP project, Stones in the Sun.

US in Progress is supported by the City of Wrocław and the Polish Film Institute.
