JC Chandor

JC Chandor (b. 1974) is a director and screenwriter who grew up in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. After graduating from the College of Wooster in Ohio, he spent seven years readying his debut film, only to see the main producer back out several days before shooting. As well as working in the real estate business, Chandor spent 15 years directing music videos and ads for e.g. energy drinks and cars. His 2011 debut, Margin Call, about bank workers a day before the financial crisis, had its American premiere at Sundance and its international premiere in competition at Berlinale. The film also garnered an Oscar nomination for best original script. All Is Lost is the director’s second feature film.
