CastDwight Chapin, John Ehrlichman, H.R. Haldeman awards2013 Seattle International Film Festival - Najlepszy Dokument / Best Documentary Film descriptionBeginning 1969, Richard Nixon’s right hand men, H.R. Haldeman, John Ehrlichman and Dwight Chapin recorded his daily life, ranging from mundane garden walks to important trips, abroad on Super 8 film. The tapes show Pope Paul VI and Mao Tse Tung, the Moon landing and trips to China, augmented by audio from Nixon’s infamous Oval Office tapes being successively released by the Nixon Library. Our Nixon is so much more than a documentary of amazing found footage edited with groundbreaking evidence from the Watergate scandal. In her film, director Penny Lane focuses on the hidden lives of the president and other Republicans at the pinnacle of power. She pulls back the curtain on fast-track careers and long-term “golden friendships,” that continue to tremendously affect American politics to this very day.
